Intermediate Cruising

The Intermediate Cruising course is highly recommended for people who are interested in owning or chartering a boat. It places emphasis on practical training while living aboard.

PRE-REQUISTES CYA Basic Cruising or plenty of experience sailing in keelboats.

OPTIONS
1) A five day continuous live-aboard cruise in the Kingston-Thousand Islands area
2) An intensive live-aboard weekend in the Kingston-Thousand Islands area
** If you already have gained live-aboard sailing experience but would like to attain certification to back-up your experience then the intensive weekend Intermediate Cruising course is the format for you.    **
~ Our primary boat in Kingston is a CS 30, (profile diagram & layout diagram)
3) Seven days in the Caribbean during the winter months.

FEE $575.00 + HST *Provisioning extra at cost - Intensive weekend Program

OBJECTIVE To be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a sailing yacht of 8 - 12 meters in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. Emphasizes on-the-water skills at a level acceptable for bareboat chartering.

CERTIFICATION AWARDED CYA Intermediate Cruising Standard.

Intensive Weekend Program -- Beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, and ends at 5 p.m. Sunday.
** This intensive format is designed for people who are Basic graduates who already own larger boats (30 footer or bigger), graduates of a Basic live-aboard, participants from the Advantage Boating Beyond Basic or have been on an Advantage Boating Flotilla Get-Away and already have their VHF Operator's certificate and CYA Coastal Navigation Standard. **
